Comfort Meets Clean Design
Honeycomb Shades AKA Cellular Shades are extremely popular today. They combine modern fabrics with a honeycomb shaped structure. Honeycombs are generally considered the most energy efficient window treatments. They excell at regulating energy in your home, year round. There are even optional rear coatings that reflect the suns rays, and reduce energy tranfer. Some are so insulating and effiecient that tax credits are sometimes available . All the manufactureres are trying to outdo each other with energy efficiency and insulating abilities. That competition has led to the most energy efficient window treatments ever offered. Honeycomb shades also help dampen sound. There are countless colors, patterns, textures, fabric types, light control, and configuration options. To top it off, there are now antibactrial & mold coating offered on some fabrics.

Pleated Shades
Pleated shades are similar to honeycomb shades, sharing a similar look, and fabric options. The main difference is that pleated shades are made with a single layer of fabric. Pleated Shades feature inspired textiles from a broad spectrum of colors, patterns, and textures, all folded into crisp pleats. Liners can be added to create the full range of privacy and light control levels. Pleats come in various sizes to meet your texture and proportion needs. We like Graber EvenPleat Shades becase they feature an extra backladder support that keeps pleats evenly spaced, and of coarse all of these can be motorized.

Built with Insulating Honeycomb Structure

The true power of cellular window shades comes from their signature honeycomb design. Each shade is made of small air pockets also called “cells” that help trap air and create a buffer between your room and the window. This extra layer helps regulate temperature by keeping warm air in during winter and blocking heat in summer. That means you can enjoy more comfort with less strain on your heating and cooling system. These energy-efficient shades are a smart way to reduce energy use while improving your space’s comfort, all year round.

Dual Shades for Maximum Versatility

Dual shades have a sheer fabric on the top, and a light blocking fabric on the bottom; you can stretch out the sheer over the entire window, or the light blocking fabric, or any balance of the two. You can also completely raise the shade for a full view. Combining a pleated shade with a honeycomb shade is also an option.

Practical Planning Before You Buy

Mounting Matters: Inside vs. Outside

Inside mounted is a cleaner more simple look. Inside mount also leaves your trim still visible, leaving the architectural elements in place. Outside mounting generally gives you better light blocking ability ( no side gaps ) and added privacy. Great for windows behind tubs.

Great for Bedrooms, Nurseries, and Offices

Cellular shades work well in spaces where comfort, quiet, and light control matter most. Try them in sleep spaces, reading nooks, or remote work areas.

Pair with Drapes or Valances for a Finished Look

For added style, and comfort, privacy / light control, consider layering draperies over honeycomb shades. This approach gives you more of everything, and looks incredible, well thought out, and complete.

FAQ’S

Are cell shades the same as honeycomb shades?

Yes, cell shades and honeycomb shades are the same. They both feature a unique honeycomb structure that provides insulation, energy efficiency, and a clean, modern look.

Yes. The blackout fabeics will be much more energy efficient than light filtering or sheer fabrics. Some are designed with an internal foil layer designed for maximum energy efficiency.

In general yes, but we can help address each situation. There may be limiting
factors, such as large handles. There are also verticle cell shades, that slide
left and right, which are used for sliding doors.

That can be hard to guage. You will most definitely feel it in your comfort level, and see it by taming sun rays. If your home has a lot of uncovered windows, all with light blazing in, and you cover them with dual shades, for light filtering, and a blackout fabric, closing all the blackout sections would have a drastic effect on the indoor air, and most likely save you money on your heating/ cooling bill.
Top down shades are great for keeping your interior private, while allowing light to flood in. Think bathrooms, or if your window faces a street or sidewalk.
